Autumn Yoga Retreat

Step away from the demands of daily life with our retreat weekend at historic Launde Abbey, in Leicestershire. A few days after the Autumn Equinox, we will come together to honour the changing seasons and deepen our yoga practice. There will be yoga, meditation and deep relaxation, interspersed with short periods of silence.

On the borders of Leicestershire and Rutland, Launde Abbey is set in 450 acres of beautiful parkland, giving it an almost other worldly feel. The home of an Augustinian priory, the 12th century chapel still remains.

The Abbey buildings are set in extensive cultivated gardens, providing us with the opportunity to renew our relationship with nature, during our time together.

The weekend will follow the routine of simple ashram style living, whilst allowing you to enjoy the more comfortable surroundings of Launde Abbey. With arrival from 4:30pm on Friday, our weekend will begin with yoga and Yoga Nidra before dinner. Each day will start with early morning yoga, pranayama and meditation. During the day there will be further yoga practice, teachings, time for questions and a late afternoon Yoga Nidra.

In addition to the teachings, there will be some free time on Saturday afternoon. You may wish to sleep, enjoy the gardens or take a walk in the surrounding countryside. The weekend will close at 4pm on Sunday.

Our retreat weekend, provides an opportunity to deepen your knowledge and understanding of yoga, and creates space for personal reflection. A time of balance and harmony, the Autumn prepares us for the darker months of the year. A time for rest, recuperation and inner knowing, you will be encouraged to slow down and create some much needed space away from the demands of daily life. We hope that you will leave feeling clearer and more in tune with yourself and the world around you.

During our stay at Launde Abbey, we will be based in the beautiful stable block a short walk away from the main abbey building. Our practice space is a light, airy room with a series of french doors opening on to the garden. Meals will be vegetarian and are cooked on site using locally sourced ingredients, including fruit and vegetables from the two acres of walled gardens at the abbey.

Accommodation is offered on a single basis, with the option of twin share. There are a small number of double rooms. Our rooms are in the stable block and each has tea making facilities. Please advise with your booking if you wish to share with a friend.

The retreat includes all meals along with morning and afternoon tea/coffee, which we understand comes with rather lovely homemade biscuits or cake! Please advise of any food intolerances with your booking.

Bring your usual yoga clothes, mat and blanket. As we will move between the stable block and main abbey building for meals, slip on shoes/flip flops are a good idea! Please also bring some warmer clothing – ideally layers. If weather permits, we will spend sometime in the gardens for yoga and meditation. If you want to walk on Saturday afternoon, bring your usual walking clothes and sensible footwear. We can provide details of the series of walk options in advance if you prefer. You might even like to arrive early on Friday and take a walk before we begin!

Launde Abbey is approximately 18 miles from Stamford and 14 miles from Leicester, making it easily accessible from the A1/M1. It can be reached by car, using the postcode PE7 9XB. If you prefer to use public transport, the closest train station is Oakham which is accessible from the mainline station at Peterborough. It is also possible to catch the train to Leicester.
