Pregnancy Yoga

Pregnancy is a wonderful time to practice yoga. At Padma Yoga we teach Pregnancy Yoga the Birthlight way. Our pregnancy yoga classes are a gentle way of maintaining and improving physical health during pregnancy, while reducing anxiety with breathing and relaxation techniques to promote physical and emotional wellbeing.

Beginning from fourteen weeks pregnant, yoga can be practiced up to and during labour. We encourage you to enjoy being pregnant by offering practices that help you prepare more comfortably for the big day!

Classes are limited to 12 ladies, and at the start of each class we spend a few minutes sharing news from the last week. Along with the yoga practices this time is invaluable in sharing how you feel and learning from one other’s experiences.

The yoga practices include flowing sequences of postures developed to avoid strain whilst targeting those areas that might feel uncomfortable as pregnancy progresses. We use simple sound and breath practices to expand your lung capacity in gentle and effective ways for pregnancy and labour. Each class includes pelvic floor exercises and ends with a deep relaxation.

Classes last an hour and twenty-five minutes, and are taught in rolling six week blocks. It is possible to join any week. They can also be attended on a drop in basis. We currently have two classes running, on Monday & Wednesday evenings both at 6.00pm (please note our Wednesday class is on summer break and will return in the Autumn).
