We all come to yoga for different reasons, so what you get from a class will depend very much on what you are looking for. At Padma Yoga we offer a range of different class levels, from a forty-five minute lunchtime class to a two hour extended class, along with running weekday and weekend workshops.
Each of our regular classes is developed with a specific type of student in mind and as such we aim to match students to the class we believe they will get the most out of. It doesn’t mean you can’t do a different class, from time to time it’s good to make a conscious change in your practice and see how it feels.
Before you start yoga (and from time to time as a regular yogi) it’s good to think about what you want from your yoga practice. Is it an hour and a half of peace and quiet? Do you want to learn more about your body? Are you experiencing stress, anxiety or depression? Do you want to meet new people? Do you have particular physical imbalances or injury that you’d like to correct? Do you want to learn more about meditation? Do you need routine in your own yoga practice? Do you want to share the energy of a group class? Do you want to explore the more subtle aspects of your personality?
Whatever it is you want, yoga has a huge amount to offer. For most of us more than we can learn in a life time. As our lives change and grow so our will our yoga, you may come for one thing and find in time that what you want is completely different. So come along and give yoga a try, we recommend that you make a commitment to yourself for 6-8 weeks. It can take time to feel the benefits, and often we don’t fully appreciate the difference until we’ve been at it a while.
